Today I am working on a bit of editing for my book that will hopefully come out in the next year. So here is my check list.
Laptop... check
headphones... check
music... check
sitting comfortable... check
First sentence in....
"Mom? Can I go..."
Crap I forgot that two of my kids were home still... Hey they were quiet in their room for more than 5 minutes.
Pays attention to child, she needs a ride. Dad takes her and I settle down to edit once more.
while going over first sentence again...
Brother in law decides he needs to clean around me... I of course get distracted by the noise. He moves to another room to munch and watch loud television.
Great I am getting frustrated... Perfect time to edit fight scene....
3 Sentences in to fight scene...
Youngest child is watching something funny on her computer and laughing as if she is in a sound proof room... She is not in fact I am pretty sure our neighbors can hear her cackling...
It gets quiet again, well except for the loud television behind me...
Turn up music and put in both ear buds....
Husband comes back.... loudly telling me where he took our daughter and rustles around to get himself something to eat and starts saying what we have in the fridge, because he wants to get dinner...
Grrrrrrr and this is why I work at 3 AM instead of during the day.... No editing for me!

One day I will wade through the chaos that lives here and actually get work done. Watch then it will be too quiet and I won't get anything done because of it!
