No one can ever be sure of what they will get when they ask for authors to send work there way as I have. I love not knowing exactly what I am getting into by doing this. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised and other times I am let down, but for a few moments when I have those pages open I am excited. I can feel my heart beating a little faster, and my palms begin to sweat with the anticipation of the world I am about to sink into.

A few days ago Lucy Pireel asked me to look over her short stories and the excitement of a new adventure filled me. So let me tell you a little about her.

Lucy has always been a story teller, but nowadays she would like to see herself as a writer. She is an avid reader and writer. Loves her dog and baking. If she needs to unwind you can find her outside walking the dog, or inside twisted into a pretzel while doing yoga, or she might be trying to bake a multi-layer cake. You’ve got to love those cakes!

Her favourite genres are most definitely all of them. She hates it when people try to stick her in a box, so she does her best not to fit in any and yet she feels at home in all.
Lucy writes romance, Fairy Tales with a twist, horror, sci-fy, and fantasy.  She likes to write it all, except YA or dystopian novels.

The first book that I looked at was an anthology called Red Gone Bad. This book was filled with her fairy tales with a twist and boy what a twist it was. I am not sure what I was expecting but this was definitely not anything I would have even imagined. I have never really reviewed an anthology like this one so I am going to take it one story at a time.

The first is Red Gone Bad... Oh my goodness! So twisted, but in a good way. Red finally gains a little respect from me. This one gets a 5 out of 5.

The second is a play on  Cinderella. The movie 9-5 with Dolly Parton is  referenced in this book, but she blew them out of the water so that she could have her cake and eat it too. I won't tell you the end but I will say WOW and leave it at that. I give this one a 5 out of 5 as well.

The third story from this anthology is Snow White Black as Night. This one confused me in sections because it veered away from the story line so much and was just not my cup of apple tea. This one could have been totally left out of the anthology, which is unfortunate because I loved the black play on the white fairy tale. So I have to give this one a 2 out of 5.

The fourth story in the book is Rumpelstiltskin, which I got a big kick out of. Totally did not see this coming and loved every moment of it. I gave this one 5 out of 5.

This leaves us with the flash fiction at the end of the book which is a different spin on the story Red Gone Bad and I found myself loving this version of the story just as much as the first one. I love the fact that she ended the book with the same story ( but different) as the one at the beginning.

The second book that I read was a short novella. A very sexy, hot, pain and pleasure novella that made my heart rate escalate and found me squeezing my thighs together. I cannot go into the story without giving spoilers and this is most definitely not something I want to spoil. I rate this not safe for work, around children and a 9 on the heat scale. I give it a 5 out of 5 as well.

The last book I looked at that belonged to her contained two short stories. This book is titled Heaven's Closed.

The first of the two stories, Heaven's Gate, was a bit confusing to me. I mean I got the whole heaven and hell references, I am just not familiar with this particular angel and demon genre. It definitely had a twist on it and for that I am giving it a 3 out of 5.

The second story I totally understood and loved. She finished this book off with Writer's magic. I smiled and frowned and had a plethora of other emotions while reading this. I loved this ending which I will leave for the reader to find out. I rated this part of the book 5 out of 5.

There is one thing for sure when you pull up a book from Lucy, do not expect a happily ever after. Because her Cinderella left the building, Red Riding Hood is hiding in the bushes and the princess next to you just took away your Prince Charming when the show was over.

Thanks for all these great comments! It was a very pleasant surprise to receive such a great review.
And a pleasure to do the interview with Leanne, she is a wonderful person, and not because she liked most of my work, but for who she is.

Bit of a late reply Leanne, sorry for that.
Even with the few things you didn't like, it still is your honest opinion and a review any author would love to receive!
