Welcome to two reviews of two great books by two great authors!

Redemption Blood by Tara S.Wood

Synopsis:

Murder is serious business among vampires. If you kill, so do they. They are the Penitent – a military order among vampire society charged with one task only. Execute the condemned.

Vesper Hyde is a model Penitent. Solitary. Skilled. Deadly. Only once has she ever lost a target, even though it almost cost her life. Now the one that got away is back with a vengeance, and this time he's determined to finish the job. She needs to overcome the whispers of doubt and let her instinct and training take over to redeem her failure. But on this second time around, she doesn't expect a sidekick. A very sexy, stubborn, human sidekick.

Homicide Detective Decker Price has seen it all, including the murder of his wife at the hands of a twisted serial killer. When another murder pitches him headfirst into a world of vampires, witches, and sorcery, he is given a chance to mend shattered parts of his soul. But Vesper's world is as dark and alluring as the Penitent herself and he will come face to face with echoes of his past in order to help her keep a vicious enemy at bay.

If they are to succeed, they will need to push aside both their failings and work together to ensure the balance of their worlds remains unchanged. Redemption comes at a cost – is their love worth the price?

My review:

First we meet Vesper, she is our heroine in this story of murder mystery. She meets Detective Decker Price who is investigating the murders. We get to see inside their minds as they go on to search for a serial killer that may or may not be a copycat killer, but we also are allowed to get inside the minds of the really sadistic killer.

Vesper and Decker both have axes to grind with this killer. Vesper is not only a killer for the vampire council but she is also one of his victims that was lucky enough to escape. Decker’s bone to pick with the killer is that he is mourning his ex-wife who was also a victim in this story. Throw in some nice cars and more vampires, some witches and a love story and you have Redemption in blood.

The issues that I had with this particular story were; it was too short, the scenes went by too fast, and we did not get to know the characters as well as we could have. The good points; No super slow scenes, the story went very well, I forgot to expect the unexpected and got surprised, and it kept my adrenaline going.

I am rating this 4 out of 5

About the author:

Tara Wood divides her time between creating domestic bliss and creating hot paranormal romance with the occasional side of kink. When not playing June Cleaver for her hubby and daughter, she can be found at the local Starbucks slamming back Frappuccinos and plotting out her next idea. Or she's watching the BBC. Tara resides with her wonderful and tolerant family in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. She is currently at work on several projects, one of them being the next book in her In Blood series. Redemption in Blood is her first novel.

Synopsis

Reflections by Susan Griscom's

(This is a Whisper Cape Novel, Book 2)

What if you heard a voice whispering warnings while you coped with a frightening pregnancy?

Knowing the future has its advantages...or does it?

Can love survive the reflections and memories lost?

Welcome to Maia's world.

Gerry has loved Maia from the very first moment he laid eyes on her and now that she's pregnant with his child, he's over the moon with happiness. Likewise, Maia is overjoyed about having Gerry's baby, but when she starts seeing and hearing an old woman who warns Maia about the pregnancy, Maia starts to think she is losing her mind. But Maia's nightmare has only just begun...

A most sought after beautiful woman, the talented lead singer in an up and coming rock band, sets her sights on Gerry determined to rekindle an old flame. But murder befalls the sleepy town of Whisper Cape once again, creating suspicion and betrayal, and a love once considered invincible, begins to crumble and fall apart.

My review:

This was a really well written story. I generally shy away from stories where the main characters are already a couple but this one I am glad I got the chance to read it. I fell in love with Maia and Gerry. I loved to hate one of the villains in the story. The only issue I had was that I figured out who the killer was before everyone else, but that is okay. There is nothing wrong with knowing the bad guy before the end, especially when the author writes well enough that you spend the entire novel, screaming at the characters to remember this and that. I look forward to reading more because I know that this cannot possibly be the end of this story.

The couple’s issues are very relatable in today’s society and the back story made me wonder. The fact that this had witchy super powers in it just made my day. I am rating this 5 out of 5. This was most definitely a different take on the witchy type of books that I have read.

Send me more Susan please!

About the author:

Susan Griscom was born, Susan Marie Whittaker, in a small town in Pennsylvania. Under the name, Regan Walsh she writes the popular paranormal-urban fantasy, Whisper Cape, series and writes young adult and mainstream under her married name, Susan Griscom.

Enjoy her newly released young adult novel, Allusive Aftershock Be sure to check out her Whisper Cape Series under the name of Regan Walsh. She enjoys writing about characters living in small quaint towns and tends to lean toward the unusual and spooky.

Her paranormal playing field delves into a different milieu, abandoning vampires and werewolves, but not discounting them. Someday she might like to write a novel about vamps and those furry creatures. But for now she likes the bizarre mixed with romance. A strong hero or heroine confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and capabilities gets her blood running hot.

Susan lives in Northern California with her very romantic husband, her small yippy dog, Riley, and humungous black cat, Saké. Her family consists of his and her children, four wonderful sons and one beautiful daughter, seven grandchildren. Her greatest love in life is her family and those large and ever growing holiday dinners.
She enjoys traveling. She hates running, but does it once in a while. Reading and writing are her favorite pastimes.
