I have been loading my kindle almost daily for the past couple of weeks with books that I have seen on my Facebook feed or ones that I found interesting when skimming through Amazon's Best Seller List. Since this is a slow week for me with no review requests until next month I have decided to empty out my kindle and review the books I have read.
Bully (A Fall Away Novel) by Penelope Douglas
Rating: 5 out of 5
This book carried me with it the entire time I was reading it. The author made me feel every emotion as if it were me actually going through it. Rarely do you find an author that can evoke such genuine feeling with just mere words. The few typos didn't even deter me when reading. ( and there were very few ) Penelope was able to capture the teenagers and their mixed emotions during a time when most of them are starting to really figure out who they are , perfectly. I remember being a teen and going through some of the same trauma and drama that these teenagers went through. I am the parent of teenagers now and as far as I can tell not much in that respect has changed. This is a wonderful, hard and gripping coming of age tale, that I recommend to all of my readers and hope that they recommend it to their friends as well.
Cat's Wolf by Leanne Crabtree
Rating: 2 out of 5
This is a novella that should have been a novel. It had a great concept and unfortunately that is the only reason it has two stars. Had this story had proper development and a much broader vocabulary, with more description and less typo's I could have possibly given it a higher rating. If it had not had potential to be a great read I would have not rated it all, because that is the only thing for me that saved it. My advice to the author if I knew who she was: develop the characters more, give us a background, be more descriptive, along with a few other things.
Drunk and Disorderly by Liv Morris
Rating: 4 out of 5
Call it fate, destiny or plain old coincidence and you will have exactly what led the main characters in this story to fall in love. I love the back and forth banter between Coop and Millie. It inspired laughs and even a bit of steam. I think anyone who loves a little humor with their romance will truly enjoy this book.
